Wedding Photography

I started out shooting for local newspapers in the North East while I was a student in Durham, and for the student paper there too. That’s where you learn the actual job: read a room fast, find the one frame that tells the story, and get out of the way so it can happen without you in the middle of it.

I still write and photograph for the racing press and several equine sport titles, which keeps my instinct sharp. I trained as a journalist and that shows in the way I photograph a wedding,  quietly, quickly, and without staging things that didn’t happen.

I dress for the room, not for comfort. A morning suit or a lounge suit, depending on the day, so I’m not the one person in trainers and a gilet stood out among your guests. It sounds like a small thing. Guests behave differently around someone who looks like part of the day rather than someone working it.

Most of my wedding work is for marquee weddings at the bride’s family home, but I also work with venues like Hambleton Hall in Rutland, Langar Hall in Leicestershire, Deane Park, in Northamptonshire, Weston Park in Staffordshire and Harlaxton Manor in Lincolnshire.
