I had never visited Weston Park before my pre-wedding visit but what a wonderful wedding venue it is. Ami and Ben had the run of the whole building for the entire weekend so everyone was able to stay on site before and after the wedding day. It helps the wedding photographer too, as I was able to move between bride and groom easily during the morning of the wedding.
Ben’s big sister Rebecca asked me to photograph her wedding at Harlaxton Manor, near Grantham in Lincolnshire, in 2012, so it was a great honour to be asked to photograph her brother Ben’s wedding too.
One of the many lovely features of Weston Park as a wedding venue is that the service can take place in the church which adjoins the house, and everything can be reached on foot. The bridal party made a beautiful sight as they approached the church together having walked around from the front of the house.
After the service we used an area of grass next the pond just behind the church for the formal photos before a short walk around the corner to the gardens where everybody had gathered for drinks. The garden also lends itself well to a group photo from the first floor.
There are many beautiful reception rooms at Weston Park, and we used a hallway area for the cake cutting which gave me a great angle back towards the waiting guests with the couple in the foreground.
The wedding breakfast was in the orangery at one end of the house, which doubled as a great dance floor later in the day, with doors into the garden when it got hot and sweaty inside.
Later still the whole party retired to the basement bar, complete with snooker table and dancefloor.
