Michael Jung

Michael, 43, is undoubtedly the most successful event rider of the 21st century. In 2012, he became the first in history to hold European, World and Olympic titles simultaneously and in 2015, he equalled Ginny Elliot’s record of three consecutive European titles on three different horses.

In 2016, he became only the second rider to achieve the Rolex Grand Slam (of winning Badminton, Burghley and Kentucky in 12 months), which he clinched at Badminton on his great horse La Biosthetique Sam. Last year in Paris, he set yet another record with a third Olympic individual title, riding FischerChipmunk FRH, a ride he took over from compatriot Julia Krakewski. The pair has twice won the Kentucky, USA CCI5*-L, in 2022 and this
year.

Michael, who also competes in jumping and dressage to the highest levels, lives in Horb am Neckar, where his family runs an equestrian establishment. He is married to Faye, an animal physiotherapist, and they have a son, Lio.
